72 Hour Preparedness

Being prepared for the first 72 hours of an emergency is one of the most important steps residents can take to keep themselves and their families safe. During major events such as storms, power outages, or other unexpected emergencies, it may take time for emergency services to reach everyone. By having enough food, water, medications, and essential supplies to be self-sufficient for at least 72 hours, households can reduce stress and respond more confidently if a situation arises. Preparing a simple emergency kit and having a family plan ensures that you are ready to stay safe, comfortable, and connected until help is available.
