Holly has been your Ward 2 councillor since Hanwell became inaugurated in 2014. She was appointed as the deputy mayor in 2014 and again on an interim basis in 2016.

She has volunteered for many local organizations such as the Hanwell Local Service District Advisory Committee, the Hanwell Rural Community Steering Committee, and the City Recreation Advisory Committee. She was one of the founding directors of the Hanwell Community Development Association and spent many volunteer hours building trails in the Hanwell Recreation Park. Holly was also instrumental in obtaining a grant from the province of NB for the ski and snowshoe program.

As chair of the recreation committee, she was involved in the development of the first recreation master plan, the formation of Hanwell Days, Spookfest, the Easter Eggstravaganza and other community events. Holly is looking forward to bringing to fruition the recommendations in the recently adopted Recreation Master Plan. Hanwell has  come a long way from her comment “we don’t even have a park bench to sit on”.  The community has grown and flourished since then. There is now a beautiful community rec center/municipal building, 3 fire halls, multiple playgrounds, a bike park, a trail system and a K-8 school.

Holly received her Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in psychology and sociology from the University of New Brunswick in 1984. When not helping the community, she enjoys spending time with her husband, daughters, and grandchildren or puttering in the garden. She looks forward to serving the community over the next 4 years.
