John was born and raised in St. Stephen, NB. He served in the Canadian Armed Forces as a helicopter pilot and retired as a Colonel after 28 years, with time in NATO and NORAD-US Northern Command. Following his retirement in 2017, he traveled extensively through The Bahamas and greater Caribbean.
John is a graduate of the Army Operations Course, Joint Command and Staff Program, and USAF Air War College. He holds a Bachelor’s of Military and Strategic Studies, a Master’s of Defence Studies, a Master’s of Strategic Studies, and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Ethical Leadership.
In addition to his responsibilities as Councillor for Ward 6, John stays busy through consulting and contract work. He also sits on the Complaints Committee for the Law Society of New Brunswick and the Lower Saint John River Hydro Community Liaison Committee. He is the Chair of the New Brunswick Crown Lands and Forestry Advisory Board and Vice-Chair of the Provincial Firearms Advisory Committee.
John is married to Christa Greer, who is the Executive Director of the New Brunswick Law Foundation.
